Deadline: Monday, Nov. 15th midnight. Notification by December 6th.

Funds will be awarded in January.

The North Country Sustainability Day & Green Living Fair (SDGLF) Planning Committee invites proposals for curriculum development grants to encourage the integration of SDGLF 2022 (April 22-23) into one or more spring semester courses. Sustainability Day is an annual event aimed at building a culture of sustainability across the north country campuses AND the community beyond. It includes an inspiring keynote speaker, breakout sessions and workshops as well as a poster session and sustainability expo/ green living fair, providing myriad ways in which students might become involved.

These modest grants ($250) are a direct stipend intended to provide faculty with an opportunity to devote time to planning methods for incorporating SDGLF20 into one or more of their classes. In addition, we will consider requests for material costs up to $150.

Involvement could take a variety of forms and we are open to your creativity. Some examples include:

-Assigning students to develop and host an activity table or booth during the Green Living Fair.

-Creating an assignment for students to hold a panel discussion during the breakout sessions.

-Assigning students to create posters for the poster session.

-Any other creative ideas you may have!

Priority will be given to activities that engage other SDGLF attendees and go beyond merely requiring students to attend (though we strongly encourage you to do that!).

We also ask that you consider the following as you contemplate a proposal:

While we are planning now for in-person events, we will all need to have a Plan B in case pandemic conditions in April of 2022 prevent in-person events on the SLU campus. So, for example, if you might be thinking of asking students to create a poster for a poster session on the day of the event, consider and build into your plan, that this could well end up having to be virtual.

Also, we are very excited to have Robin Wall-Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass as our keynote speaker. This event will occur, although we may have to limit the audience size and/or live stream. Please consider, if possible, incorporating her writing into your class.
