Math/Finance students why not try Actuarial Science!
An actuary is a business professional who uses mathematical and financial tools to help identify and manage risk, so it's a great career for students who are strong mathematically but who are not necessarily interested in teaching. It's also great for students who like business and have good math aptitude.

The specialized courses in college they would be studying are Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Hematology, Clinical Immunohematology, and laboratory operations and management.
We are now offering a job shadowing experience at the CLB. . A job shadowing experience at the CLB for a high school student is following a laboratorian as they go about their workday. The job shadow will mostly involve observing and listening. However, to keep the student interested and engaged they will be provided with chances to perform simple job duties. They will have very limited interaction with actual patient samples, and several tasks can be simulated for them, to limit their risk of blood and body fluid exposure. The student will have the opportunity to see what their mentor’s schedule is like, what other healthcare professionals they interact with on any given day, what types of different tasks and duties they perform, and what knowledge and skill sets they use in their job. The job shadow experience should last approximately between 8:30am-3:30pm, The mentor will fill out paperwork for the student that is necessary for the obligation of their own school district. The student should be able to list upon completion of their job shadowing experience what medical laboratory departments, equipment, and procedures they had the opportunity to observe.
The shadowing dates occur on the first Tuesday or the third Friday of every month, now-May.
Nationwide, there is a great need for staffing in the laboratory areas, so there are many job opportunities.
