Hello!

My name is Mrs. Amy Switzer and I serve as the Elementary School Counselor (Grades K-5) for the Clarion Area School District. Although I just started with the district in February of 2023, I served as a school counselor at Redbank Valley High School for 10 years prior to starting my time here. A little background on how I got to where I am; I am a native of Clarion County and a graduate of Clarion Area High School. After graduating high school in 2004, I continued my education at Westminster College where I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and my masters degree in School Counseling.

I have a bulletin board in my classroom that states the following:

“At Clarion Area…

This is my goal as the elementary school counselor, to do my best to ensure that each student that walks through the doors of this school knows that they are a part of the Clarion Area Bobcat community and they matter! Throughout the day you can find me delivering classroom lessons in the primary grades, leading small groups in my classroom, meeting with students individually or having lunch groups with students.

I am excited to be a part of this district and to get to know your child! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns or I can support your child in any way. You can reach me at 814-226-8118 or aswitzer@clarion-schools.com. We want to do what we can to ensure that your child feels safe and happy during their time in our building!

Sincerely, Mrs. Amy Switzer

Hello, Bobcat students and families.  My name is Shari Campbell and I am the Middle School Counselor at Clarion Area.  I have been at Clarion Area since 1994 and I am very grateful to be here to support all our students.  My first 12 years at Clarion Area were in the classroom as a first grade teacher.  I have since served as the elementary school counselor and as a high school counselor as well.  My undergraduate degree is from Juniata College and my masters degree is from Saint Bonaventure University.

As the Middle School Counselor at Clarion Area, it is my responsibility to help our adolescent students to navigate the tween years.  This is a time of great academic, social and emotional growth.  It can be both exciting and overwhelming.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out for my assistance as a student or parent.  I am located in room 122 in the Middle School wing and Mrs. Wetzel, in the Main School Counseling Office, is excellent at getting messages to me. I can be reached by email, scampbell@clarion-schools.com, and by phone, 814-226-4701.

During the day, our middle school students can expect to see me in class or a small group.  I like to check in at lunchtime, as the cafeteria can be quite an exciting time.  You may be in need of some social time, time to relax and unwind, or advice from a grown-up.  Students may also stop in room 122 during study halls and electives.  Or in emergency situations, be sent by their subject teacher.  I am happy to help with organizational skills, academic planning, classmate mediations, and personal/social concerns.  I am here to help you have the best day possible and to support you until you get back home to your family.

I am looking forward to an excellent school year, getting to know each of you, and learning about each one of your talents and strengths.  Seeing each of you meet you potential in the classroom, in athletics, extracurriculars, and as a friend to others is so gratifying for me.  Let’s have an outstanding year!

I believe in each of you!

Mrs. Campbell

Dear Clarion Area Students and Parents:

It is with much excitement that I take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you.  My name is Mrs. Rosary Pennington; I am originally from the Clarion Area. I received my Master of Education in Secondary School Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2003 and prior to that my Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice from The Pennsylvania State University in 2001.

As the School Counselor at Clarion Area High School, I hope to meet each of my students and establish trusting relationships that allow for education and growth for all involved.  Each year I will arrange orientations with my high school students by grade level to inform them of what to expect throughout the school year and their high school careers.  As the year unfolds, I will meet with students on an individual basis for academic planning and scheduling, career and college planning, and person/social concerns. During any conversations please speak honestly and freely about any thoughts and feelings. I can help you to get questions answered, plan for your future, locate resources and we can discuss any issue or problem solve situations.

Flexibility and availability are two areas I would like to stress. I will make efforts to be in the hallways and common areas so that students and faculty may approach me with questions and concerns. I will assess each situation and request separately and work to accommodate the needs of students individually in addition to offering group classroom activities. If you would like to meet with me please stop by my office  or set up an appointment to be sure I am available by calling (814)226-4701 or email me at rpennington@clarion-schools.com . Additionally feel free to email me with any questions you might have sometimes this method yields the quickest response.

I look forward to getting to know the students and their areas of interest including athletics and the arts.  I hope to see students working hard at the academics as well as extracurricular activities and part-time jobs.  Attending school events will give me the opportunity to do this as well as give me a chance to meet parents. I am proud to be a new supporter of the Clarion Area Bobcats, please drop in to introduce yourself and say "hello".

Sincerely,

Ms. Rosary Pennington
