This years standards focus on the Earth Sciences but we will cover numerous aspects of STEM as well. The beginning of the year we'll be in "STEM Bootcamp" learning the basics of the scientific/engineering processes and lab work. From there we go big exploring the universe, galaxies, planets moons and Earth. Once our feet are back on the ground we begin exploring the geological processes that have shaped our planet and the rocks and minerals that it's composed of. Finally we start exploring the living systems of our earth and how life thrives in our world. I look forward to a great year of exploration and discovery of how our world works.
Learning about aqueous macroinvertabrates aka small water bugs
Using iPad apps to explore and manipulate our solar system. GREAT!!! thanks to all that contributed to getting iPads in to our lab!!!
Getting ready to get dirty in the Verde
Learning how to measure volume in the metric system in "Science Bootcamp"
The best way to learn about nature is to be in nature.
Making accurately scaled models of the solar system on the soccer fields.
Catching organisms and discovering there is more living in the Verde River than they'd like to know.
Using their macroinvertabrate knowledge to test the health of the Verde River.
A parent and student searching for constellations. One of many favorite pics from last year!
