First and foremost I feel a genuine care for the children that grace my room is key to being a positive educator. I work hard for all the kids that enter my room and take my job as an educator and mentor very seriously. I understand that it is not only my job to teach science but also to help kids develop as members of our community with positive values, work ethic, problem solving, care for others and much more beyond just content.
As a child growing up in the beauty of the California coast and the Sedona red rocks I developed a deep connection with the natural world. I strive as a science teacher to instill my students with that same connection and care for nature. In a world where it seems it's all been done I strive to inspire students passions and curiosities for what's out (or in) there. It's a big world with plenty still to explore and discover.
As technology progresses so does our world. It's been estimated that "65% of children entering primary school today will ultimately end up working in completely new job types that don’t yet exist." Science will be at the forefront but as an educator preparing our youth for the future my classroom will blur the lines of traditional subjects instilling skills within technology, mathematics, engineering, problem solving, creativity, cooperative skills and more.
