Singapore Transport System
The public transit system in Singapore is second to none anywhere in the world and is probably the most inexpensive in terms of routine fares. There is a bus stop across the street from the entrance gate to both the Lakeside and Tanjong Katong campuses.
There are two MRT stations within close proximity to the Lakeside campus.
Singapore also has the highest number of taxis of any city in the world. These are all late-model vehicles operated by a highly-skilled, competent, courteous group of drivers. The cost of taxi fares is very reasonable. Singapore’s Changi Airport is among the finest in the world. It is a hub for travel
throughout Southeast Asia and beyond.
Singapore is widely regarded to have a clean, safe and highly reliable public transport system. The MRT and bus networks are extensive, well integrated and feature frequent services.
Payment for travel is via NETS / EZ-Link / SimplyGo using a tap in / tap out system for both the MRT and Bus services. If your child is above 0.9m in height and is below 7 years old, you may apply for a Child Concession Card for free (Only for the first application) for him / her in any ticketing office with your child’s passport and Dependent Pass for verification.
Ez-link cards can be purchased / recharged at most 7-11 Convenience Stores, MRT stations and Bank ATMs. MRT Maps / Apps are available for download on your mobile phone.

Driving in Singapore is an expensive pastime - most of the staff are happy with public transport and taxis. Non-Singaporeans who possess a valid foreign licence and an International Driving Permit (IDP) may drive in Singapore for up to 12 months after their arrival.
For long term driving, expatriates who have lived in Singapore for more than 12 months, or who have decided to become Singapore Permanent Residents, will need to convert their foreign driving licence into a Singapore driving licence. This requires you to pass the basic theory test; you do not have to pass a practical test. There are lots of books and online resources to help you prepare for the theory test. To book a basic theory test, you may register yourself online through one of the three driving centres’ websites or register directly at the centre. The three centres are located in different parts of Singapore:
North - Singapore Safety Driving Centre Ltd http://www.ssdcl.com.sg
East - ComfortDelGro Driving Centre Pte Ltd http://www.cdc.com.sg
West - Bukit Batok Driving Centre Ltd http://www.bbdc.com.sg
When driving a car in Singapore, please take note of the ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) on some expressways. ERP is a toll that is collected electronically by using a NETS Cashcard.
