The senior spotlight page is dedicated to the Cambria Heights class of 2022. These students have experienced a chaotic four years of high school. They started their high school career in the construction of the school, then they lost part of their sophomore year due to the covid shutdown, and spent most of their junior year with online and hybrid learning. In addition, the students were all faced with the typical stress of any high school student. Despite these challenges, the students have shown great accomplishments and strive through the years. The purpose of this page is to highlight all the accomplishments, personalities, memories, and future plans of these students. The page is created by Lyndsey Kitchen.
Grace Jacobs
Grace Jacobs is currently a senior here at Cambria Heights. After graduation, she plans to attend Penn State and major in Psychology. Throughout high school, Grace has been a member of the marching band, the scholastic reading competition team, the scholastic quiz team, Synergy, Vocal Extension, the Family Career and Community Leaders of America, and the National Honor Society. Grace was also a statistic keeper for the boy’s soccer team and has been involved in musical theater throughout high school. Grace is very proud of receiving the Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science scholarship and making high honor roll all four years of high school. Outside of school, Grace’s hobbies include sewing, singing, and making TikToks. Her most memorable moments were during her freshman and sophomore years when the school was under renovation. She says, “Everything was just so chaotic!” Some fun facts about Grace are that her favorite food is sushi, her favorite color is pink, and her favorite movie is Sing 2. Grace has accomplished so many great achievements throughout high school and has a very bright future ahead of her!
Bernie Whiteford
Bernie Whiteford is a current senior. After graduation, Bernie plans to work for his father’s trucking company. Throughout his time here at Cambria Heights, Bernie has been a member of the varsity basketball team, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His favorite teachers are Mr. Meidinger and Mrs. Manack, the technical education teachers. Bernie says, “I will never forget the memories I made freshmen year in Mrs. Manacks' class.” One of Bernie’s biggest accomplishments was being named the MVP of the basketball team. Outside of school, Bernie enjoys racing cars and going golfing. Some fun facts about Bernie are that his favorite food is nacho grande, his favorite color is blue, and his favorite movie is Wild Hogs. Good luck to Bernie in all his future endeavors!
Megan Chuhran
Megan Chuhran is a current senior here at Cambria Heights. After graduation, Megan plans to attend college to major in Early Childhood Education. Throughout high school, Megan has been involved in the marching band majorettes, the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Student Council, ski club, foreign travel club, and spirit club. Megan is very proud to be the majorette co-captain and the ski club president. Outside of school, Megan enjoys skiing, twirling batons, and reading. Her favorite teachers were both Mr. Manifest, the SADD and ski club advisor, and Mrs. Manifest, the student council advisor. Megan will never forget the ski club’s trips to CamelBack and Holiday Valley. Some fun facts about Megan are that her favorite food is pizza, her favorite color is blue, and her favorite movies are all The High School Musical movies. Megan has achieved many amazing things throughout high school, and will continue to do so in the future!
Dolly Yarnish
Dolly Yarnish is a current senior. After graduation, Dolly plans to attend Saint Francis University to major in nursing to pursue her dream of being a labor and delivery nurse. Dolly has been very involved throughout her time here at Cambria Heights. She has been a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, Remembering Adam, spirit club, scholastic reading competition, the varsity soccer team, marching band, and the lead guitarist in Synergy. Dolly will never forget all the friends and memories she has made over the past four years. Her favorite teacher and class were 8th-grade social studies with Mr. Krug. Outside of school, Dolly enjoys baking, shopping, and cleaning. Some fun facts about Dolly are that her favorite food is chicken bacon ranch pizza, her favorite color is orange, and her favorite movie is How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Dolly has a very vibrant personality and her positive energy is contagious. Dolly is going to achieve great things in the future!
Alexis Stevens
Alexis Stevens is currently a senior here at Cambria Heights. After graduation, Alexis plans to attend Penn Highlands Community College. She has been a member of majorettes in the marching band since freshman year. She is very proud of receiving a Challenge Program award. Alexis’ favorite class was Algebra and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Shirf. Outside of school, Alexis enjoys going on walks and practicing her baton twirling. Some fun facts about Alexis are that her favorite food is spaghetti and her favorite color is purple. Alexis is one of the kindest people at Cambria Heights and has a very bright future ahead of her!
Steven Yeckley
Steven Yeckley is a current senior. After graduation, Steven plans to spend a year in the workforce and then go to college. Throughout his time here at Cambria Heights, Steven has been a member of the varsity track team and varsity baseball team. One of his biggest accomplishments was receiving a varsity letter in track as a freshman. Steven says he will never forget Mr. Meingher, one of the technical education teachers. Steven stated, “I can never forget “Mr. Mines”, he made coming to school actually enjoyable.” His favorite class is English 12A, with Mrs. Schimshauk. Outside of school, Steven enjoys buying and selling designer shoes. Some fun facts about Steven are that his favorite food is steak, his favorite color is red, and his favorite movie is The Fox and The Hound. Good luck to Steven in all his future endeavors!
Emma George
Emma George is currently a senior here at Cambria Heights. After she graduates, Emma plans to attend Mount Aloysius College and enroll in their 2+2 nursing program. Throughout high school, Emma has been a member of Remembering Adam, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and the foreign travel club. Her favorite class was Algebra with Mrs. Venesky. Emma’s most memorable moment was when the school was under construction and there was water coming from the ceilings and lights. Emma says, “It was a guessing game of where the water would come in next!” Emma will never forget Mr. Ed Thomas. She stated, “He always made the class fun with his crazy storytelling and yelling. I always appreciated how he made sure to ask about my day.” Outside of school, Emma enjoys riding ATVs and working at the Cambria County Care Center and St. Nicholas Hotel. Some fun facts about Emma are that her favorite color is red, her favorite food is mac and cheese, and her favorite movie is anything with Adam Sandler in it. Emma has a very bright future ahead of her!
Ben Hite
Ben Hite is a current senior. After he graduates, Ben plans to attend Penn State Altoona and Penn State University Park as a part of the 2+2 program to major in Animal Sciences and work towards his goal of becoming a veterinarian. Throughout his time at Cambria Heights, Ben has been a member of the varsity baseball team and the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. Outside of school, Ben has worked at his family’s business since he was very young and has been a dog walker at Winterset Kennels all through high school. Ben has achieved a high honor roll all four years of high school. His favorite class was Chemistry with Mr. Eckenrode. Ben says, “I will never forget every time I walked into Mr. Eckenrode’s room. There was never a dull moment with him.” Some fun facts about Ben are that his favorite food is steak, his favorite movie is Spider-Man No Way Home, and his favorite color is navy blue. Ben has achieved many great things and will continue to achieve great things in the future!
Emma Kent
Emma Kent is currently a senior here at Cambria Heights. After she graduates, Emma plans to attend Saint Francis University to major in psychology. Emma has been a member of Remembering Adam, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and the student council. She has also been a Girl Scout since 2008. Emma’s favorite class is psychology with Mrs. Chapman and art with Mrs. Manifest. She says, “Mrs. Manifest is hilarious. It is so nice to have a teacher that you feel comfortable talking to if something is wrong or you’re having a bad day.” Emma’s most memorable moment was when all the students chanted, “We want water!” after a water pipe burst outside and cut off water to the high school. Outside of school, Emma enjoys playing videos, making art, and watching true crime documentaries. Some fun facts about Emma are that her favorite food is mac and cheese and her favorite color is maroon. Emma has a very bright future ahead of her!
Alexia Nemec
Alexia Nemec is a current senior. After she graduates, Alexia plans to attend Mount Aloysius College and major in surgical technology. Throughout her time here, Alexia has been a member of the varsity cheer-leading team, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, and foreign travel club. Alexia was also named homecoming queen. Her favorite teacher is Miss Toth, the anatomy teacher. Her most memorable moment was the time she walked into Miss Toth’s room crying because she was “broke”. Alexia says she will never forget her homeroom teacher, Mrs. Manack because she has helped her through so much over the past four years. In her free time, Alexia enjoys hanging out with her friends and online shopping. Some fun facts about Alexia are that her favorite food is chicken alfredo, her favorite color is purple, and her favorite movie is Frozen. Alexia’s kindness is contagious and she is going to accomplish great things in the future!
Kadence Della Valle
Kadence Della Valle is a current senior here at Cambria Heights. She is undecided on a major but is committed to the Mount Aloysius College volleyball team. Throughout her time here, Kadence has been a member of the varsity volleyball team, varsity softball team, student council, and Students Against Destructive Decisions. She is also one of the student afternoon announcers. One of her favorite teachers is Mrs. Manifest, the art teacher, and Student Council advisor. Her favorite class is yearbook. When asked what her most memorable moment of high school was, she responded, “I will never forget being a part of the Coal Bowl student section." Outside of school, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing cornhole, and listening to music. Some fun facts about Kadence are that her favorite food is buffalo chicken dip, her favorite color is yellow, and her favorite movie is Safe Haven. Kadence has been a positive influence on all the students at Cambria Heights, and will continue to be a positive influence in the world around her!
Loryn Zaliznock
Loryn Zaliznock is a current senior. Loryn is well known for always laughing and joking around with everyone. After she graduates, Loryn plans to attend college, but she is still undecided on a major. Her favorite class is Spanish, because she always knows that joking around with Mrs. Kline will brighten up her day. When asked what her most memorable moment was, she replied, “I do not have a specific memorable moment, but I will never forget all the friends I have made over the years. I am so grateful for all of them.” Outside of school, Loryn is very passionate about her art work. She is very talented at painting and drawing. A few fun facts about Loryn are that her favorite food is tacos, her favorite color is sage green, and her favorite movie is Howl’s Moving Castle. Loryn has been a positive influence on the students of Cambria Heights and will continue to be a great influence in the community and the world.
Nathan Nihart
Nathan Nihart is a current senior here at Cambria Heights. After he graduates high school, Nathan plans to attend Penn State Altoona and major in cyber security. Throughout his time here, Nate has been a member of the ski club, the junior varsity soccer team, and the Technology Student Association. Nathan has made high honor roll every year of high school. One of his favorite classes and teachers was chemistry and college chemistry with Mr. Eckenrode. When asked about his most memorable moment of high school, he replied, “I will never forget freshman year when we were eating lunch in the commons and the ceiling started leaking water. The teachers were frantically trying to find trash cans and buckets to catch the water. We ended up getting dismissed early, but it made for a very memorable moment.” Outside of school, Nate spends his free time skiing and playing video games. He also spends his summers as a cook at Burger Hut. Some fun facts about Nate are that his favorite color is red and his favorite food is pizza. Nate has a very bright future ahead of him!
Maya Legrand
Maya Legrand is a current senior here at Cambria Heights. After she graduates, Maya plans to attend a four-year college to earn a degree in psychology. Throughout high school, Maya has participated in forensics, the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science, and the Technology Student Association. One of Maya's favorite memories of high school is going to Spanish class every day. She enjoys the challenge of learning a new language and the fun classroom environment that Mrs. Kline creates. Maya spends most of her time outside of school working at Sheetz. Besides work, Maya enjoys hanging out with friends. She stated, “When I am with my friends, it is always an adventure. I am so grateful for every one of them.” A few fun facts about Maya are that her favorite food is chicken and dumplings, her favorite color is red, and her favorite movie is Footloose. Maya has earned many accomplishments throughout high school and will continue to accomplish great things in the future.
Kennedy Rogal
Kennedy Rogal is currently a senior here at Cambria Heights. After she graduates high school, Kenna plans to attend a four-year college and major in biology. She has been very involved throughout her high school career. Kenna has participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Technology Student Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Remembering Adam, and spirit club. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Kenna has played the bagpipes and flute in the marching band all four years of high school. She says her most memorable moment took place during construction of the school. She commented, “We looked outside the window and it was like a geyser outside. A water pipe broke. It was the craziest thing I ever saw.” Outside of school, Kenna spends her free time playing on a travel softball team and working at the Hastings VFW. Some fun facts about Kenna are that her favorite food is mac and cheese, her favorite color is green, and her favorite movie is Lilo and Stitch. Kenna has made such an impact on the community throughout her time here at Cambria Heights and she will continue to make a positive impact on the community in the future.
Michaela Lentz
Michaela Lentz is currently a senior here at Cambria Heights. She is known for her bubbly personality and always having a smile on her face. After she graduates high school, Michaela plans to attend a four-year college to earn a degree in nursing. Throughout high school, she has been a member of the foreign travel club, student council, and students against destructive decisions. Michaela is also a member of the National Honor Society. She is a very proud member of the varsity cheer leading squad. When asked what her most memorable moment of high school was, she stated, “My most memorable moments are when my friend Loryn Zaliznock and I would laugh hysterically at random things in the middle of class.” Her favorite class she has taken throughout high school has been Spanish and her favorite teacher was Mr. Ed Thomas. Outside of school, Michaela enjoys making art, reading, and watching movies. Her favorite movie is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Michaela has accomplished so much throughout high school and has a very bright future ahead of her.
