Kirsten's Summer Reading List
Looking for books to read this summer? These 8 books (including some series) are all great reads while you sit in the summer sun!
Folk of the Air Series by Holly Black- This series is perfect if you are looking for a series with a lot of intense moments. This series takes place in a fantasy world where the main character, Jude, is an outcast in her home. While reading this series, you will get elements of fantasy, politics, and even some romance.
One of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus- One of Us Is Lying is a book I read just recently. One of Us Is Lying is a murder mystery that takes place in a highschool, the suspects being four students who have no relations with eachother. It is the type of book that has you on the edge of your seat at all times and wondering what is going to happen next. This book is very easy to read while still being interesting and full of plot twists.
Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson- This fantasy book is a story of two young, independent people who are forced together in different situations and are forced to work together as a team, even though they may have different goals in the end.
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover- Reminders of Him is a heart wrenching novel. The story follows Kenna as she is released from prison after a terrible accident. She heads back to the town where it all happened in order to get her five year old daughter back. Along the way she meets someone who helps her in more ways than one.
The Unhoneymooners by Chtistina Lauren- Another romance novel, The Unhoneymooners begins with a wedding. But not the main character, Olive's wedding. It’s actually her twin sister's wedding. Ami, Olive’s twin sister, has her honeymoon all scheduled and waiting for her and her new husband, but an unexpected turn of events happens. The entire wedding party comes up with food poisoning, except, Olive, and the person she hates the most, Ethan Thomas. Olive and Ethan take the honeymoon together, having to pretend to be married the whole time. What is the worst that can happen?
Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller- Taking a slight turn from the previous books, this book features a strong, female pirate lead who wants to make her father proud. She orchestrates an elaborate plan that could possibly put her in danger in order to retrieve what her father needs. This book is very fast paced and easy to read, plus, it got me out of a reading slump.
Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky- The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a coming of age novel that features a quiet, reserved teenage boy, Charlie, who is very observant. This novel takes the reader along while Charlie navigates highschool while also going through some difficult things.
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer- The Lunar Chronicles is a series of four, young adult, science fiction books. They all take place in the future, after the third world war. The books are futuristic inspired stories of classic fairy tales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White. The world is a mess, having just got out of a war, and a virus is infecting the entire planet. The four books follow a group of friends attempting to save the world from the deadly disease, Letumosis, and the evil queen of the moon, Queen Levana.
