Other Teaching Methodologies:
Content Based Learning:
Content based learning is a methodology that revolves around the understanding of the content that a language brings forth rather than the language itself. It focuses on keeping the learners interested by engaging their higher thinking skills instead of expecting them to focus on things like structure of the sentence. This method helps learners to study new languages in a fun way as they are continuously learning new things about different cultures.
Individualized Instruction:
Similar to differentiated instruction, this method is completely learner centric as it focuses on the needs of the learner. The facilitator keeps the entire mode and process of teaching flexible so as to make the process of learning as comfortable for each learner as possible. The techniques, resources and assessments are all structured in a way that caters to the requirement and preferences of the learners.
Direct Learning Method:
It is a method in which the information is directly conveyed to the audience. It is generally conducted in the target language, that is the language under study. It is highly beneficial while studying foreign languages as the speech is directly associated with objects, feelings, and other aspects of the language, and there is a direct connection between experience and expression.
Task Based Method:
As suggested by the name, this method involves the use of tasks as a means of imparting education. This method has several steps to it. The first is the pre-task, which is the presentation of the topic with a little bit of explanation. The second is the actual doing of the task wherein the learners take up the task in groups, pairs or by themselves. The third step is the planning, wherein the learners focus on learning and understanding what they have done. The fourth step is the one in which the learners give the facilitator a report of what they have done. The fifth is the analysis step in which the facilitator gives the learners the feedback about their work and helps them to analyze the entire process. The sixth step is the practice step wherein the learners make use of what they have learned to get better at it.
Gallery Walk: Cooperative Learning Strategy
The gallery walk method consists of an atmosphere that is similar to an exhibition, that is, the learners and the facilitator put up their works for others to see so that everyone can take a look at them and learn from each other. This method inspires learners to be creative and to appreciate other people's talent and hard-work. It also ensures a healthy environment for people to express themselves and to learn more about themselves.
Discussion Method:
A method in which the facilitator prompts the students to learn from one another by holding discussions in class. The facilitator sets certain goals and requirements so as to avoid a haphazard session and to make sure that the class doesn't deviate from the actual topic. The class is generally divided into three parts, the introduction, the discussion and the conclusion.
