FFA Advisors

Agriculture Education at Chowchilla Union High School. We have 5 Ag Teachers this year, each has their different classes as well as CDE/LDE Teams. Below is a little more about our Teachers!

Ms. Barney

Ms. Barney Graduated from Modesto Jr College in 1995 with an A.S. Degree in Dairy Science. She then transferred to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in the Winter of 1996 and majored in Dairy Products Technology where she graduated in 1999 with her B.S Degree. Ms. Angie Barney returned to College in 2008 to study Agriculture Education at Chico State and she received her teaching credentials in 2010. In 2018 she earned her M.S. in Agricultural Education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Ms. Angie Barney started teaching in 2008 at Calaveras High School located in San Andreas CA, as she was earning her credential from Chico State. After relocating to Chowchilla in the summer of 2011 she started working at Wilbur Ellis in El Nido. She began teaching at Chowchilla High School in the Ag Department in 2013 and now teaches the ornamental horticulture pathway classes and manages the floral shop and greenhouse.

Mr. Evans

Mr. Evans has been teaching at Chowchilla High School since 2002. He teaches the Introduction to Ag. Mechanics, Advanced Welding, Basic Woodworking, and Intermediate Woodworking classes. He enjoys working with students on their projects and teaching them skills that they can use on those projects and later in life. Mr. Evans also coaches the Ag. Mechanics team or the Ag. Welding team. 

When Mr. Evans is not working with students, he enjoys being with his family and visiting his sons and grandchildren.  Mr. Evans also enjoys target shooting - both punching holes in paper and clay targets, being a viking era reenactor where he is able to demonstrate his blacksmithing skills, and going on motorcycle rides and horseback rides with his wife


Ms. Perez

Ms. Perez began her teaching career with Chowchilla in the Fall of 2023. Before earning her credential, she studied Animal Science at Modesto Junior College. She then transferred to Chico State University to earn her Bachelors in Agriscience and Education with an emphasis and minor in Animal Science. While in college, she was a herdsman at No Limit Genetics and the Chico State Swine Unit. She was also a member of Chico States 2021 Livestock Judging Team. This year, Ms. Perez is teaching our Agriculture Biology courses as well as coaching our Livestock Judging, Creed, and B.I.G. teams. Ms. Perez enjoys helping young people succeed and find their passions. She is very excited to join our Tribe Family and find success with Chowchilla FFA.

Miss Lord

Miss Lord is a Los Angeles native that joined the Chowchilla Agriculture Department in the fall of 2019. Prior to joining the Tribe family, she spent her educational career earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and agriculture teaching credentials from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She has thoroughly enjoyed teaching the Animal Science pathway and Ag & Soil Chemistry classes while navigating the new challenge of advising the Agricultural Communications class and Chapter Officers. Her favorite experiences with Chowchilla FFA have been coaching the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Light Horse Judging, and Vet Science CDE teams. Whether through distance learning or in person teaching, Miss Lord takes great dedication in working with her students and being involved in Chowchilla FFA’s future accomplishments.

Mrs. Lewis

Mrs. Lewis is born and raised in the Central Valley and currently resides in Madera with her family. She started teaching in 2015 after she received her teaching credentials from Fresno State. In 2017, she received her MS in Ag Education from Cal Poly, SLO. She is currently teaching Ag Systems Management, Ag Wood 2/3 and Sustainable Ag Biology. She enjoys advising the dairy cattle and coaching Dairy Cattle Evaluation, Impromptu Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking and Prepared Public Speaking. 

When Mrs. Lewis is not spending time at school and with FFA, she enjoys traveling with her family and spending time with her two boys, Grayson (4) and Lincoln (1). 

Mrs. Lewis is excited to be part of the Tribe Family and to continue the FFA Tradition at Chowchilla.
