A strong connection among faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders, the CHMSU as a community creates a positive working climate as demonstrated by participation in activities and governance, as well as the inclusion of the community at large into the university activities.
Participation is placing a greater emphasis on the engagement of Fisheries Faculty in major projects and activities as the core of its identity and mission. Basically, the faculty participates in institutional activities such as cultural and sports events, Mass during celebrations, flag ceremony, Araw ng Lahi, and Cooperative and Faculty Association. Of utmost importance beyond the teaching function, the Faculty of the College of Fisheries are involved in both research and Extension programs. The faculty of Fisheries demonstrated their commitment to community engagement by supporting research on the civic mission of university, allocating resources to support university members in pursuing community engagement projects, and integrating engagement into the curriculum and community development. Community engagement is understood by the Faculty of Fisheries as reciprocally engaging with groups of people outside of the university in order to create and disseminate new knowledge, improve understanding, and address problems related to fisheries resources and environment.
