We are officially closed for Summer Break! Mr. Wheelock looks forward to seeing everyone back next school year!
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the other choir programs have had to back out of the Region Boot camp event scheduled for this Saturday. As such, it is no longer possible for us to hold the event as planned and so I have decided to cancel it.
I apologize for this last minute change, and will put together an alternative plan for the future to introduce and teach the All-Region music to our students. If you received information about tomorrow's camp, please disregard it.
Thank you for your support, and again, I apologize for this change. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
This Saturday, all 7th/8th Grade Choir Students will be attending our 2nd annual CHISD Region Choir Bootcamp. This event is required for all 7th and 8th grade choir students and will serve as the kick-off for them learning the audition music for the All-Region Choir auditions in January.*
*If a student is unable to attend the bootcamp, please have a parent/guardian email Mr. Wheelock to be excused.
Boys will have their sectionals in the morning and will be served a pizza lunch prior to dismissal at Noon. Girls are invited to join us at Noon for the pizza lunch and will have their sectionals afterwards until 4 PM.

Last week in class all students recieved new sheet music for our next concert (Winter). We spent time in class working on writing in the correct markings for our part in the music. Each student was required to present these markings to Mr. Wheelock in class for a grade.
If a student did not have the markings completed, they recieved a zero in the gradebook for that week. This zero can be made up at any time by presenting finished markings to Mr. Wheelock.
Special Note: If a student fails to finish their music markings by the end of this week (and each subsequent week), they will receive a grade of zero for rehearsal procedures. This grade will reflect that the student did not correctly demonstrate rehearsal procedures that week and cannot be made up.
There will not be a MakeMusic Cloud assignment this week. We will resume MakeMusic Cloud Assignments next week.
Exciting news - our Choir program is moving over to CutTime! Welcome to modern simplicity in managing your student’s participation in our program.

CutTime is a Game Changer for Our Program
Over the next year, we will see continuous new features, enhancements, and new services all hand crafted by a passionate team of former fine arts educators and booster leaders with incredible tech know-how. For more information on what this change means for you now and what is coming next visit their Welcome Parents-Guardians page here.
Thanks for all your support for our program! Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any other questions or feedback.
With our shift to CutTime, our previous calendar will no longer be used. All dates and events will be located on the CutTime calendar which can be accessed in your CutTime account. This calendar will show you only the specific events that are assigned to your singer. A public version of the calendar with all public events can be viewed on the choir website here.
Every week all choir students will be assigned a sight-reading assignment in their MakeMusic Cloud. This is a web application that is accessible via the student's Choir Schoology Page.
These assignments are being graded for effort, and not accuracy (so long as a student puts effort into the assignment, they will receive a 100 in the gradebook).
We have practiced using this system in class, so students should not have any confusion about how it works. This system works with their school issued chromebooks, as well as other computers with microphones. It may not work on cell phones or tablets.
