High school students in French classes have the opportunity to travel to France every other year. This is a 15-day trip to France for students who have completed French 3 or higher. Each trip focuses on the northern or southern portion of France with a 5 day family stay in that region. After the family stay, the group will end in Paris by visiting famous Parisian monuments.

In June 2023, there are 21 high school students and 3 teachers going to France to visit Provence and La Côte d'Azur. The itinerary includes Nice, Arles, Cassis, Monaco, and Avignon. Students will be staying with a host family in Avignon for 5 days. To end the trip, students will be traveling to Paris by TGV and seeing the Catacombs, Versailles, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre, Montmartre, and the Arc-de-Triomphe.

High school students in Spanish classes have the opportunity to travel to a Spanish-speaking country every other year. This is an 8 to 10-day trip to a Spanish-speaking country. Past trips have included Costa Rica and Peru. Each trip focuses on a family stay with daily activities in the most popular tourist destinations of the host country. Additionally, our trips include a day spent at a school, daycare or orphanage, participating in a service project and interact with the children and staff.

In June of 2023, there are 16 students and 2 teachers going to Costa Rica for 8 days who will be visiting La Guácima, the Sarapiquí River area, the Arenal Volcano region, and the Pacific Coast.

8th grade students in Spanish I and French I have the opportunity to travel to Bemidji, Minnesota to participate in a weekend immersion camp. This field trip is offered every year to 8th graders. Each language has its own village where students have the opportunity to eat authentic meals and participate in cultural activities while staff counselors speak entirely in the target language.

Each summer, the company Language and Friendship welcomes students from France (and Spain) for 3-4 weeks for an immersion family stay program in June/July. The students come to us through the Foreign Coordinators we work with in these countries, who also find families for our American students when they travel abroad. In total, 35 families in our district have hosted students from France.

Each year, Spanish students are invited to participate in a host program with Shelby Klein, a Chippewa Valley native who resides in Spain. Each summer she brings students from Madrid, Spain to live in the Chippewa Valley for 4 weeks. In total, 95 different families in our district have hosted students from Spain.
