About Annette
Annette is the president of the Croquis Club at East, a figure drawing class started in 2019. The members take turns at performing timed poses while the other members sketch in a variety of drawing mediums. She started taking drawing lessons regularly in ninth grade and has selected to take AP Art and Design in her junior year. She has participated in a small Korean festival art contest and won second place, and has volunteered with art classes at a summer camp for small children. She has also volunteered at a Korean traditional art booth at a Korean festival. Annette is also a performing arts student, she has been playing the violin since first grade. She has participated in the NC honors orchestra (NCHO).

About the Awards
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are part of a national competition for 7th - 12th grade students, that recognize exceptional student work in visual art and writing. This year, 340,000 works were submitted. Works are competitively judged by a panel that looks for works that "best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision."
