Chattahoochee-Flint RESA provides Substitute Teacher Training designed to prepare individuals for successful service in Georgia classrooms. The training is offered throughout the year through a Google Classroom online platform, with an annual face-to-face training session available for participants who prefer in-person learning. Topics include classroom management, instructional strategies, professionalism, ethics, school safety, and effective practices for supporting teaching and learning.
Georgia law and GaPSC Rule 505-2-.20 (Substitute Teaching) require substitute teachers to hold, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED equivalent and complete at least four hours of substitute teacher preparation or training unless exempt by certification or local district policy. Local school districts may establish additional requirements for employment.
