Specialists at Chattahoochee-Flint Regional Educational Service Agency (CF RESA) provide professional learning and support for our educators by delivering high-quality, standards-based Social Studies instruction in partnership with the Georgia Department of Education. Together, we provide training, instructional resources, and ongoing support to help teachers implement the Georgia K–12 Social Studies Standards and promising practices with confidence and fidelity.
The Georgia K–12 Social Studies Standards are designed to develop students’ understanding of history, geography, economics, government, and civics while fostering critical thinking, inquiry, and informed citizenship. These standards serve as the foundation for instruction and represent the minimum content and skills required for each grade level and course. Effective Social Studies instruction emphasizes hands-on, student-centered, and inquiry-based learning experiences that engage students in investigating questions, analyzing evidence, and making meaningful connections across disciplines. Through a focus on enduring understandings and recurring themes, students build knowledge and skills that progress seamlessly from kindergarten through high school.
