For our final project in Engineering Design/ Menthod II we were tasked to make cutting boards from scratch. This process involved numerous steps that tested us in various ways.
The step were as follow:
Plane and Cut Wood
Create Design
Cut Out Pocket Using CNC Machine
Engrave Design Using Laser Cutter
Pour In Resin
Polish Wood
In this project, there were many obstacles because it was one of the first times the lab has done such a thing. With the process of trial and error, the teachers and students completed this project. My favorite part of this project was using the woodworking tools such as the planer, sanding machine, and router tool. Throughout this project, I learned that these basic tools are what help make your cutting board neat and tidy. These little details are what make each board unique. It was challenging using the laser cutter because I haven't used it in a while, which resulted in me forgetting some steps. The most rewarding part of this project was pouring in the resin and seeing it successfully work the next day without any complications. Overall, this project is by far the most hands-on and fun project we have done in this course.
