Once a student reaches the age of 18, they are eligible to join any branch of the US military regardless of their parent’s status.
As a reminder, with very few exceptions, all immigrant males between 18-26 years old are required to register with the Selective Services. It is the law. Failure to register may adversely impact a student’s future eligibility for government benefits, programs, and even employment. For more information, click here.
*Note: students considered a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) may also join any branch of the US military services. These students are eligible to apply for full citizenship during basic training. They will also be eligible to receive the GI Bill and obtain all other military benefits.
