Infirmary
Infirmary
The school has a full-time nurse and a full-time nurse assistant. The nurse is in charge of making the initial response to injured/unwell students or staff, assisting in very minor cases and contacting the emergency paramedic and ambulance services whenever necessary.
A medical Report Form is filled out and sent through Phidias when the nurse considers that parents need to be notified of a child’s visit to the infirmary.
Students should not be sent to school if they are ill. Students should be fever-free for 24 hours before coming back to school after an illness.
The school has contracted the services of Emermedica, Ambulance service for all its students, staff and visitors. It is classified as a “Protected Area” contract. This means that they will attend ‘Urgent’ and ‘Emergency’ situations within the defined area that is Colegio Gran Bretaña and take them to any hospital, clinic or attention centre according to the requirement.
Furthermore, we count on a School Insurance Policy (Seguros Bolivar), that also provides our children with ambulance service and medical attendance in all the emergency rooms of clinics and hospitals in Colombia. It is essential to contact parents when making use of these services. Please be sure that your contact information on Phidias is regularly updated.
It is also very important to keep students' medical information updated in Phidias (diseases, allergies, medications, etc.).
In the event that a student requires medication to be administered at school, please send it with the corresponding medical prescription. Otherwise it cannot be administered.
All Colegio Gran Bretaña students are covered by the Seguros Bolivar accident insurance. This policy recognises up to COP$16,000,000 in medical treatment for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, on and off the school premises and anywhere in Colombia. It also has an agreement with ASSIST-CARD for international coverage. It is school policy that all students buy into this insurance coverage. Parents will be charged on their school accounts at the beginning of each school year.
