Pear Deck is an interactive presentation tool used to actively engage students. Teachers can adapt Google Slides using the Pear Deck Add-On. This tool can also be used for Formative Assessment within the classroom. Teachers can view student work live or go back to review previous sessions. Pear Deck sessions can be teacher-led (Instructor-Paced) where students can't move on until the teacher proceeds, or students can complete them independently (Student-Paced). Students can receive copies of the session with their answers in a viewable Google Slides presentation or an editable Google Doc.
Device Compatibility:
✅ iPads
✅ Chromebooks
✅ Windows Laptops/Promethean Panel OPS
Teachers must use their CFB Premium Account that is paid for by the district.
Enable "Require Student Logins" from the 3 bar drop down menu within the Pear Deck Add-On so that work is saved with student name instead of an alias. (See screenshot)
If using a shared link vs. a join code, only post this link in closed CFB environments, such as Seesaw, Google Classroom, or Canvas.
This program has been purchased by CFB so it is able to be used with all age groups.
First be sure you have the Pear Deck Add-on in Google Slides and have added interactivity to some of the slides.
Open the Pear Deck Add-On in the Google slide deck you'd like to use to start a session.
Start the session to share the code or link with students.
Students will join the session using the link or typing the code into joinpd.com. *There is a link to Pear Deck for students in Digital Resources (2-12) and Clever (PK-1).
Monitor students as they work through the session using the teacher dashboard.
Be sure to name and save the session once it's complete.
Note: For students on iPads-they will need to be logged into the Google Drive app with their email and password (suggested to complete ahead of time) in order for names to be seen.
