The Skills Center has been selected as the lead agency for the National Youth Employment Coalition’s (NYEC) Youth Champion Communities: Mayor’s Challenge Initiative. This is the first time Tampa has been invited to participate in this innovative framework and we’re excited to bring this opportunity to our community.

The Mayor’s Challenge Initiative provides a national vision and implementation strategy to drive systems-level change within communities. This framework is a living resource, evolving as more communities participate and contribute their successes and examples. By aligning priorities and strategically working together, this initiative helps create transformational change to support young people and connect them to opportunities for economic mobility.

We’re inviting you to partner with The Skills Center in this effort. Your involvement would include:

• Collaborating in two 60-minute meetings per month from January through May 2024.

• Contributing to a Community Self-Assessment, Asset Map, and Strategic Plan aimed at addressing our community’s unique needs.

• Sharing your expertise and resources to support young people through education, employment, and holistic support like health and well-being.

This is an invitation to be part of a groundbreaking effort to ensure our young people thrive by strengthening the systems and supports they rely on. Communities thrive when young people have access to resources and opportunities, and your voice in this work is vital to achieving that goal.
