The Skills Center is excited to share the success of our first Gasparilla Hoopfest, previously called May Day Hoopfest, in our new gym! With 59 teams competing across The Skills Center, Tampa Prep, and The All-People’s Center, and an attendance of 1,500 spectators, it was an event to remember!

One of the highlights of the tournament held on May 4th-5th was seeing the young athletes take to the basketball courts for the first time. The passion and competitiveness every team displayed added a special energy and it was exciting to see 5 of The Skills Center Elite Teams clinch 1st place victories in the tournament, and 3 secured runner-up positions. 

A special THANK YOU to John Arroyo, Chief Operating Officer of Sports, whose leadership ensured the success of Gasparilla Hoopfest.  AND Thank You to everyone that attended – we’ll see you next year.
