Hello, I am Mrs. Cox, and I am so blessed to be St. Matthew's art teacher! I began teaching at St. Matthew in 2017, and I look forward to teaching art here for many years to come! Before I taught at St. Matthew I taught seven years at St. Patrick School in London, Ohio. I am also a graduate of The Ohio State University where I received my Bachelor of Art Education, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Arts degree. I am looking forward to continue getting to know my students as they discover new and creative ways of expressing themselves through art. I hope you enjoy reading about all the fun lessons your child will be participating in this year.
Here is a little bit about me and my family. I live in Lewis Center with my husband, Nathan, daughters Everly and Sylvia. Everly is seven years old and Sylvia is four years old. We enjoy playing outside, being creative, going to the park, and traveling.
Throughout the year, artwork will be displayed in the halls of the school for all visitors to see as well as online on Artsonia. As an advocate for the arts, I find this super important, because it helps my students take ownership and pride in their artwork. Art allows them to tell a story and express who they are visually. In addition to the art displayed within the school throughout the year, we will hold a K-8th grade art show in May. The artwork on display will be mounted and labeled and will include at least two projects from every student in K-8th grade.
