ILLUSTRATION (Conventional & Digital) - The art of visual interpretation & decoration of a concept or a text, applying both conventional and digital tools.
Explore the concept of “Transformation” with two thematic projects, from a natural landscape becoming a city with lenticular techniques to the metamorphosis of human into animal with your choice of watercolour or digital software.

Project 1 : Lenticular Landscape                                                   

Create a lenticular-style artwork with two distinctly painted landscapes in gouache showcasing a transformation from nature to man-made… and back again! Put your creative mind to work and imagine how a mountain could become a tower block, or a lake becomes a swimming pool. Build upon the foundational skills of landscape and perspective drawing, then transfer your images to a lenticular board to see the transformation illusion before your very eyes!

Workshop Outcome: A lenticular-style artwork with two painted landscapes

Project 2 : The Metamorphosis                                                              

Continuing the theme of transformation, illustrate yourself morphing into your favourite animal. Take inspiration from the Vietnamese version of K.A. Applegate’s Animorphs series, illustrated by artist Tidus Fair. Level up your human anatomy knowledge and study the form of your chosen animal to capture your transformation on paper with watercolour, pencil, and ink or go digital with Photoshop or Procreate!

(Participants opting for the digital pathway will need to bring a device with Photoshop or Procreate installed. A non-digital option is also available).

Mission Runway

Mission Runway is a dynamic program that combines textiles, design and presentation all in one.  Not only will students gain knowledge of how to conceptualize their creativity, but they will also learn textile basics in order to construct a collection of outfits and accessories to be presented in the final fashion show - at the end of each term, students will showcase their masterpieces in a runway show!

Our mission is to:

• Get students develop a sense of fashion and design

• Help children formulate their creativity into reality

• Encourage children to perform, organize and sharpen their presentation skills

Children will be able to apply their creativity by transforming a simple t-shirt/hat into something fantastical.  They will have to sketch their ideas on paper, then execute the design idea onto a real outfit.  All materials will be provided for children to draw, deconstruct and reconstruct their wearables – from outfits to accessories.  Then, they will show their masterpieces off at a fun and energizing fashion show.  This program will certainly help children apply their creativity and develop their presentation skills - while having tons of FUN!

Public speaking techniques and presentation skills will be woven into the curriculum so that every child will be able to improve on his/her speech and design in the course.

Hip Hop K-POP Dance

A high-energy, fun dance class featuring today's popular K-POP moves! Learn the moves from Black Pink, Twice, Stray Kids, and BTS! Children will explore the basic movement of hip-hop dance in a fun and engaging way. This will enable the students to let loose while developing dance rhythm & coordination, creativity, and musicality. Each class starts with a  stretching and warm-up, hip-hop grooving and freestyling guaranteed to get our hearts pounding. Then we move into choreography set to today’s groove-worthy jams, combining hip-Hop, K-POP and today’s Pop hits! This class will also help students build their self-confidence while promoting self-esteem. Our goal is to let each student feel extra empowered with every class!

Chinese Orchestra

The Orchestra organizes fun and systematic Chinese instrument training courses (Pipa, Guzheng, Yangqin, Erhu and Dizi) and ensemble training. An immersive activity for students to experience Chinese music culture.

The instrument courses are taught by professionally-trained musicians.
