For my last painting I painted my finish line, a new and improved version of my baseline. For my baseline I painted a landscape with cherry blossom trees in a blue night sky with the moon shining. I improved this painting by adding two trees instead of one along with more detail on the trees. I also blended the blue sky better, making it blend in with the moon. I painted the moon to be smaller to make it look like it is in the distance. I like to paint landscapes especially with nature. That is why I added Japanese cherry blossom trees. I used acrylic instead of watercolor because I thought it would look better. To paint this I painted the blue sky first using a dark blue and using water to blend it to make it lighter down the page. Then I painted the cliff along with the trees. I wanted to add more detail into the painting so I added cherry blossom petals falling from the tree down. For the petals I mixed red and white to create pink flower petals. I didn't want the trees to be identical so I added more white to one and more red to the other. For the moon I made it smaller and didn’t used a lot of paint to make it blend more with the sky. I want people to think about the beauty of all nature when looking at this painting. From my first time painting this to now I feel like I have improved on many artist techniques and principle of design which made painting this easier. This painting is a realistic painting, I just used bold colors for detail and attention.
