My idea behind this drawing was making it a combo drawing because my cat is black and white, with a hint of orange on her. Since a combo drawing only has a little color and is mostly black and white, I decided to draw the cat with color. I got the idea to draw my cat because I wanted to draw something that has a meaning to me. The first step of creating this drawing was to draw everything with pencil first. I first drew the cat tower and carpet in the background first. After that I drew the cat laying sideways. After everything was drawn in pencil I used chalk pastel pencils to color in the cat. For the orange sections of the cat I mixed brown, orange, and yellow together to get the right shade of orange. I used a black pastel pencil to add black to the sections that needed it. To draw the ear I used pin to blend black part into the white part of the ear. I used a pencil along with a blending stick to shade the background different shades. The most difficult thing for me while drawing this was making sure my proportions were like the picture so it wouldn't look off. I had to draw the body of the cat twice in order for it to have the right proportions. This drawing is a realistic drawing. What I love about this drawing is the contrast in the background that makes the cat stand out.
