My idea for my printmaking design was to do a simple but detailed flower. I chose a hibiscus flower as my design because it is one of my favorite flowers. To create the 3 prints I first had to print off the flower I wanted to trace. I had to trace the flower onto a styrofoam plate. I then had to trace it again to make sure the lines transferred onto the styrofoam plate. I then picked out different colors of ink and used a roller to roll it on to styrofoam plate. After the ink was on the plate I placed it on a piece of paper to transfer it onto the paper. These prints don't have a meaning other than that the hibiscus flower is my favorite flower. What was most difficult for me when doing these prints was not knowing whether or not I had enough ink on the plate or to little. There wasn't a way to fix how much ink was on the plate so I just hoped there was enough. These prints are abstract drawings/prints. What makes these prints unique to my own personal style is that it is one of my favorite flowers. I love how all the different colors of paper makes the flower look a little different in everyone.
