Each course in Visual & Performing arts addresses the proficiencies required for graduation:

Drawing

Explore paint media with an emphasis on composition, color, contrast and depth.

Digital Photography

Communicate ideas and opinions through through taking and manipulating digital images.

Painting

Explore drawing media with an emphasis on composition, color, contrast and depth.

Jewelry

Create objects that are made to adorn, embellish, convey meaning and symbolize larger ideas.

Graphic Design

Communicate ideas and opinions through through taking and manipulating digital images.

Stained Glass

Create objects that are made to adorn, embellish, convey meaning and symbolize larger ideas.

Animation

Create traditional and digital animations.

Printmaking

Experiment with different printing processes to make 2D art.

Pottery & Sculpture

Work with clay to learn about form, function and modeling.

Architecture

Learn about the design and construction of buildings and outdoor spaces.

Independent Art

Take what you know and explore new ideas, media, and techniques.

Performing Arts

Concert Band • Full Year

This class is an instrumental performing ensemble. Students will rehearse and perform band literature. Participants are exposed to ensemble playing, elements of band literature, terminology, self-discipline, with the long-term goal of a lifelong enjoyment of performing and an appreciation and understanding of performed music.  

Jazz Ensemble • Full Year

This performance ensemble is an outgrowth of the concert band.  Jazz band is open to those students who perform on the following instruments: saxophone, trombone, trumpet, guitar, piano, bass, and piano.  

Chorus • Fall and Spring

Students will have the opportunity to work together learning how to develop their voices and musicality.  The goal of the course is to work towards putting together a set of songs that are used to explore various musical topics culminating in a performance in both the winter and spring.

Harmonizing Instruments • Fall and Spring

Students can explore various harmonizing instruments, these include piano, guitar, or ukulele.  Students will learn how these instruments are used in popular music, and work towards playing along with their favorite songs.  You do not need previous experience on any of the above instruments to be successful in this class.
