Peer mentoring is a fun way to give back to your community, gain practical life skills, and earn community service hours. High school mentors are matched one-to-one with a younger student who shares similar interests. Matches meet once a week at a regularly scheduled time that fits the schedule of both the mentor and mentee. Returning mentors will be matched with their current mentee, while new mentor applicants will complete an application process to find a good match. Ongoing support and training will be offered from Pam Quinn and an AmeriCorps member to help keep your mentoring time fun and rewarding.
Do you feel passionate about a specific topic facing youth today? Be the leader you needed when you were younger, and become a Twinfield Together Peer Leader. You will have the chance to research your topic of choice, practice presentation and facilitation skills, and give younger students tools for navigating adolescence and the world today. Topics could range from the importance of fitness to taking care of the environment. Past projects have focused on topics like food insecurity, housing insecurity, queer inclusivity, and community building. You can work independently, with local service agencies, or with peers who are interested in the same topic. These will be student directed projects with support from Fiona Zahm, Pam Quinn and our newest AmeriCorps member.Â
