How to Create Engaging Next Generation Storylines
Learning cycles are a series of ideas on how to plan lessons to create variation from day to day, while maintaining steady progress the targeted learning goal.
The following website is working with NGSS to show many tools to create lessons using many different models such a the 3D model. It is in work with Rodger Bybee. (http://www.amnh.org/explore/curriculum-collections/five-tools-and-processes-for-ngss/introduction)
In this teaching cycle teachers give the lab or inquiry before the student ever learns the material. This way they all have a common occurrence before they learn any material, that they can lean on while learning the material.
An instructional cycle that works to engage and evaluate what students are learning and how they are doing it.
The workshop model works to establish routines and rituals for seamless instruction in the classroom.
Is a practice working with students that over the course of the year gives them the chance to take charge of their learning. It begins with teachers giving more detailed instructions, and then gradually letting students be more in charge.
Gradual release starts with direct instruction from the teacher and less work from the student. Next it is just guided instruction where the teacher works to guide, and the students work more. Then work goes into the students and less from the teacher where they work in small groups to gain material and knowledge. Lastly the students work on their own and with minimal help from teacher and small groups.
