Age of Exploration - Performance Based Assessment #1

Your city is embroiled in a controversy over its plan to build a statue of Christopher Columbus in the local park. Many people in the community feel that this statute does not address all perspectives of European Exploration. In response, instead of a statue dedicated to an individual explorer, the city has created a competition for architects to design a monument accompanied by a persuasive essay dedicated to European Exploration overall. A committee will select a winner from among the submissions. You, an architect, have entered this competition.
