Day Users

What is a Day User?

There are three circumstances in which a student may become a day user.

If your Chromebook has been collected to have repairs done (most common)
Your Chromebook has been collected and permitted for in-school use only as a result of a technology violation or for some other reason administration has deemed necessary
A parent/student has declined to take responsibility for the device for use at home (no CCPS Device Agreement Form on file)

Are you stuck as a Day User?

As a result of repairs? No. Once your Chromebook is repaired, you will again have your device to take home. However, repair costs may be billed and payment in full or other arrangements will need to be in place.
As the result of a discipline infraction? No. Normally, if you lost the privilege of having access to your device for a discipline issue, the administrator providing the consequences may prescribe it for a certain amount of time depending on the nature of the infraction.
For failing to agree to the device agreement form? No. Anytime your parent/guardian completes the CCPS Device Agreement Form, your device will be free to travel home with you.

What does a Day User do?

Unlike other students who take their Chromebook home every night and over weekends/holidays, a day user:

Arrives at the Chromebook Service Center (CSC) early and signs-out their device
Returns the device to the CSC before leaving school for the day
Is STILL responsible for charges that may incur as a result of intentional damage or breakage
Is responsible for ensuring teachers know that you are a day user which means:
- Collects paper copies of assignments that may be required for homework from his or her teacher
- Ensures teachers know Google/digital based assignments need to be completed in class

Depending on availability of loaners, a student who has their Chromebook in for repairs may keep the loaner and take it home until their repairs are complete.
