Content Filtering

Culpeper County Public Schools has several systems and tools in place to ensure that our students can access as much of the valuable information on the Internet and as little of the inappropriate content as technically and humanly possible. Our Chromebooks are managed in the division using Google's Management Console and iBoss Content Filtering . The iBoss Chromebook Extension is installed automatically on all of our devices. It enables proxy-free web security with single sign-on authentication via Google .

This helps protect our students from explicit content and ensuring CIPA and COPPA compliance. The filtering works the same whether the student is at school or at home on a Saturday afternoon. This means that there will be sites your child won't be able to use on their Chromebook, but they will be able to access all the sites and content they need to complete homework for class. In the rare occurrence a legitimate site is blocked by iBoss, students can request that the site be reviewed and released directly from their Chromebook.

It is important to know that the internet changes rapidly and no technical solution will ever be 100 percent perfect. That's why we have adopted an internet safety curriculum where our students are taught how to work safely on the Internet using ethical and responsible behavior.

Our goal is to prepare our students to be good digital citizens.
