Teams engage in a variety of activities from fellowship, off-site experiences, to projects on campus, and will have an opportunity for a fun Jamaica-filled recreational day.
Specific serving and construction projects vary depending on campus needs - if you would like specific information, please contact your campus host directly. Remember to pack closed-toed shoes and lightweight pants that you do not mind getting dirty (hospital scrub pants are a popular and cheap option).
Visiting other campuses is always something we try to do with each team - it gives a wider picture of our ministry as a whole! This will depend on the time of year you are traveling, but know that your host will do all that they can to give you the best experience possible.
Each campus has a cook that prepares all meals for your team while on campus. The food is absolutely delicious!
Dietary needs can be accommodated, please talk to your host before arrival on the island.
Cleanup - Teams are required to clean up after each meal. This process will be explained by your host upon arrival. It is a good idea to have clean-up crews (3-5 people) assigned for each meal depending on group size.
No worries! We have team members with little to no sign language experience all the time. We highly encourage you to prepare accordingly for your trip, and this includes learning some basic sign language like your name. The devotional has a pre-trip section which includes language, and we have a page on this site dedicated to language learning - go check it out!
You will have the ability to purchase items that will support the efforts of our ministry. Additionally, on your recreational day, there will be an opportunity to purchase souvenirs. If either interests you, bring some spending money along.
Each team has a fun day that is included in the cost of your trip. Transportation, lunch, and admission is provided by CCCD.
Not a bad idea at all, especially if you have dietary restrictions! Ideas include chips/pretzels, nuts, granola bars, trail mix, candy, powdered gatorade mix, decaf coffee (regular coffee provided), etc. You may also consider bringing indoor and outdoor games to play with your team and those on campus.
Each campus may have various needs depending on the time of year, if you are interested in bringing down some additional items please contact your on-island host.
Please reach out to your on-island host or our US office with any other questions!
