Districts is the first stop on your competition journey! Whether you're taking a test or writing a manual, districts is where everything begins. There are an array of dates leading up to the Districts Watch Party (January 19th) held at Cypress Bay High School where you and any partners you worked with will find out if you're making it to the next level: STATES! Districts includes taking your district test, presenting any 10-page manuals, or your professional selling presentation!
Get in touch with our VP of Competition (jenna@cbhsdeca.org), an Executive Council member, an advisor, or attend our competition workshops to learn more or if you have any questions!
More information about Districts, what to wear, who qualified, and all dates you need to know will be posted closer to December.
Testing Events
Do you like solving a challenge by thinking on your feet? Want to work by yourself or with a partner? Then try out the testing events!
If you are competing in a testing event with a team or individually, you will take your test on December 5th or 6th, depending on when your DECA class is. This event will be during the class. In preparation for this, we are offering many workshops such as an Introduction to Competition Workshop, a Testing/Role-Play Workshop, several Career Cluster Workshops, and more! We encourage all testing students to read LAPs and take practice exams, both found on the DECA Members Canvas Page, to get your test score as high as possible.
Manuals
Do you like having a prepared plan and an opportunity to rehearse? Want to work by yourself, partner, or even in a group of three? Then try out writing a manual!
If you are competing in a manual event with a team or individually, you will submit your paper on the date according to how many pages you paper is (10 or 20). In preparation for this, we are offering a Manual Workshop, the Career Clusters Workshops, and more!
If you are writing a 10-page manual, you will be presenting your presentation at Nova Southeastern University on January 17th. You will be given 15 minutes of presentation time. This is the case for ALL 10-page manuals, even if you also take a test such as the integrated marketing campaigns.
20-page manuals will not have a presentation at the district level; therefore, districts is used as a qualifying stage to move the paper onto CDC. Submitting a 20 Page Manual this year? Email CaroCorcino@cbhsdeca.org to submit it!
