Meet Your Teacher
I, Rachel Vannoy Beaumont, truly believe that God called me to be a teacher many, many years ago. When I was in elementary school at Broadmoor, I can vividly remember playing school with my stuffed animals and dolls. As a teen, I loved being involved with as many school activities as possible. Then finally at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, I gave into the Lord’s will and pursued an English degree with a minor in Secondary Education. I originally started my teaching career at a LPSS middle school a couple of blocks down the road from CCS teaching 7th grade ELA for a couple of years. After hearing God’s voice, I became a Catholic school teacher, where I’ve taught at various diocesan schools in the Lafayette area, as well as one in Texas. I am forever grateful to be able to not only teach English Language Arts to my students, but I also help them grow closer to God and help them obtain the ultimate goal of reaching heaven one day. I’m very fortunate to be spending my sixteenth year of teaching here at Cathedral-Carmel School.
Although I am originally from Lafayette, I've spent half of my childhood here and half of it growing up in Texas (Bastrop and The Woodlands). After graduating from Lafayette High School, I attended ULL, where I met my husband Bobby Beaumont. We have two amazing sons, and we recently moved back home to Acadiana a few summers ago from a short hiatus in Texas. This fall Anthony Beaumont will be embarking upon his junior year at Holy Cross College at Notre Dame. Edward James Beaumont, also known as E.J., is an eighth grader here at CCS. In our spare time, we enjoy spending time with our faith-filled friends and family.
One of my favorite Bible verses is Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart.” There’s been many times in my life where I’ve had to give God all of my worries and sufferings and follow His word and will. You never know where He might lead you, but it’s so important to trust His path and timing. In doing so, it has led me and my family right here. We already feel so welcomed, but I look forward to meeting more of the Cathedral-Carmel School community!
