Seadog Families,
This is Mrs. Clemmons with your weekly Reminders. Let’s celebrate the following Superior Seadog Students of the Week: Catherine Crawford, Emmie Walton, Riley Bayer, Reed Henrikson, Harper Cummins, and Gavin Range. Great Work Seadogs!
Our P2 Word of the Week is Open-Mindedness. Individuals with this strength like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions. I look forward to seeing how each of you look at evidence and not just intuition this week.
I would like to celebrate all the families and friends who made orders during our Fundraiser. We beat our goal of sales. I am very proud of you! We have a very busy October so please stay tuned to the following events.
Upcoming dates to remember:
Tuesday, October 17th begins Book Fair Week along with our Curriculum and Book Fair Night. The Title Wave Book Mobile will also be giving one free book to each student. Please take advantage of all the great resources from this special night!
All First Grade Students will attend Garner Farms on Thursday, October 19th.
Friday, October 20th- Early Release- Students will be dismissed at noon. Please make sure your child’s transportation is secure on this day.
On Wednesday, October 25th PTO will have Dine In Night at Blackbeard's. A percentage of the proceeds will go to PTO.
Monday, October 30th- Reports will go home. All parents will have a required parent teacher conference over the next few weeks to discuss your child’s academic progress.
Tuesday, October 31st- Pre- K and Kindergarten Students will have a costume parade at 8:15. Parents are welcome to attend and stand in the lobby. This year we would like to try something new by having all students (PK- 5th Grade) wear their costumes at school. No scary masks, weapon like toys, or kids with dark make-up are allowed. If this by any means interferes with the educational day parents will be called.
Thank you for your continued support! And remember, Seadog Students, if no one has told you today, know that Mrs. Clemmons deeply cares about you.
Open-Mindedness
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Open-Mindedness. Open-mindedness means you like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions.
Open-mindedness is the willingness to actively search for evidence that goes against one’s favored opinions, plans, or goals. Open-minded individuals are able to weigh all evidence fairly, when it is available. They see the other side and fight the tendency to have a bias for their own views. And, rather than favoring the socially dominant views, they give attention to those that are less dominant.
Open-minded individuals are often good listeners and called upon to provide a balanced viewpoint. Both listening and the ability to deliver reasonable and practical advice are marks of good friends and confidantes. This strength helps individuals form meaningful and lasting relationships.
To practice and encourage the character strength of open-mindedness with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
