Seadog Families,

Let’s celebrate the following Superior Seadog Students of the Week: Camden Springle, Trinity Johnson, Claire Hanna, Charlie Barker, Bryson Grandy, and Lillian Westmoreland! Great Job Students!

This week our school community will be focusing on Perspective, which is also referred to as wisdom and is distinct from intelligence. People with this strength are sought out for advice because they see the big picture and can make sense of the world’s complexity. This is also a friendly reminder to please stay in your cars until 7:30 at arrival. This is to keep everyone safe and arrival to remain orderly.  Don’t forget to wear your Purple tomorrow.  Monday, April 15th was Purple-Up day in support of our Military-Affiliated Families. We thank you for your dedication and service to our country.  This week  PTO is hosting a Penny Wars competition. This effort is to raise funds for special projects for our school. The grade level that raises the most funds will earn a Pizza Party. Don’t forget your spare change!

We have a lot of exciting things occurring this Spring. Please stay tuned to the dates below. Most importantly, Grades 3-5 will be gearing up for the last check-in assessments. Remember to encourage your students to not only know Reading and Math answers but be able to explain the logic behind it. Our 3-5 teachers have worked very hard with this strategy and I would encourage each of you to practice this at home.

We hope to see you at our Outdoor Learning Center Ribbon cutting at 4:00 on this Thursday, April 18th. Our PTO has worked very hard on ensuring our students have alternative ways to learn. After the ribbon cutting we will have our Science Night where our teachers have planned Science Activities to participate with your child. This will begin at 5:00 and conclude at 6:30. Dinner will be provided along with a Science resource to take home.

Last, but certainly not least, Friday, April 19th  our First Grade students will be performing for the school. This performance will begin at 8:30.  Parents are invited to join us. We will also have an Early Dismissal day on Friday. Students will be dismissed at noon. Please ensure your child’s after school arrangements are solidified.

Perspective

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Perspective. Perspective means you appreciate when people see things in different ways. You have the ability to understand the world from multiple points of view.

Perspective is also referred to as wisdom and is distinct from intelligence. People with this strength are sought out for advice because they see the big picture and can make sense of the world’s complexity. This strength of perspective gives individuals the ability to see to the heart of difficult matters and achieve clarity. Most importantly, they are honest and behave in an ethically consistent manner.

Perspective helps an individual make sense of the world. It provides clarity on what matters and what does not. Being able to see things from multiple angles helps individuals remain calm and learn from mistakes; they are typically highly self-aware. Reflecting on their own feelings, thoughts, and motives helps them understand and empathize with other people. These individuals are strong listeners and ask great questions. Individuals with the strength of perspective help their group get through difficult or uncertain circumstances because they’re poised and can identify opportunities for success.

To practice and encourage the character strength of perspective with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
