In many parts of the world, implementing a HACCP food safety plan is a legal requirement, and it is typically helpful in uncovering harmful practices in the food and beverage industry.

HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) can be crucial in ensuring compliance with national and international food safety regulations. It offers a risk-based strategy that complements other food industry management system standards, such as ISO 22000 Food Safety Management. HACCP explains effective production practices for all food industries and might be crucial to company's success when doing worldwide commerce. Primary farmers, manufacturers, processors, and food service companies will benefit the most from it.
During production, a HACCP system helps detect hazards and implement controls to manage them throughout supply chain. The HACCP system complies with the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), which was formed by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to bring together worldwide food standards, guidelines, and codes of practice in order to promote fair trade. It can also be used to support management standard requirements, such as the ISO 22000 Food Safety Management standard.
