All CHS students are required to complete 20 hours of community service total (not per year) as stated in Board Policy 5122 as a graduation requirement.
Community service can be completed by working without pay for a non-profit organization that benefits your fellow man, the environment, or the animal kingdom. If you are paid for a service, it is not considered community service. Fundraising for a team is also not considered community service.
Total Hours: Each student must complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service. Students can begin to accrue hours the day after 8th grade promotion.
Submission: Documentation of the completed hours (e.g., signed community service form (below), official letter from service organization, certificate of recognition, etc.) must be submitted to the CHS Community Service Hours Google Form.
NOTE: Only the first 20 hours of community service will be recorded in Aeries. Any hours completed beyond this will not be reviewed or added to the student’s record.
We recommend students maintain their own records of community service hours for inclusion on college, job or scholarship applications.
Community service hours do not have to be all completed with the same organization or project.
Hours can be viewed by logging into Aeries, clicking on the "Student Info" tab and then the "Awards and Activities" tab.
Please note, Community Service Forms MUST be submitted digitally to the CHS Community Service Hours Google Form. Hard copy forms will not be accepted!
