3rd grade day 1
Please note: This assignment will also be posted in Seesaw, which is the preferred method of access
1. Click on the attached video to see Mrs. Monke and warm up your singing voice with the story "Cowboy Joe"
2. Singers use the solfege scale to sing in tune and read music. Listen to Mrs. Monke sing the solfege scale, by clicking this link and follow along with the words:
Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do (then I sing it backwards)
Notice that my voice goes up, and then back down. I am singing a very specific note for each word. Listen again.
3. Learn motions that will help you sing the pitches accurately. Click here:
4. Watch the movie clip from the "Sound of Music": watchkin.com/d122a72c1a
5. Respond to this assignment by making a recording of yourself that includes the following:
-sing one "yeehaw!" (make sure it is in a singing voice and not a speaking voice!)
-sing the solfege scale. You can do it with or without the motions.
-tell me if you've had any prior experience using the solfege scale (details please!), or if the solfege scale is new to you.
