Specialist Activities

Music - Mrs. Monke

Write your own rhythm

Attached is a blank template for you to use to write your own rhythm! You can print out the template, or draw a similar one on a piece of paper.

These are the guidelines for your rhythm:

1. Use quarter notes, eighth notes and quarter rests (ta, titi, and rest)

2. Four beats per measure (that's why it says 4-4 at the beginning)

3. Notice the repeat sign at the end!

4. Keep it simple! (you need to be able to say it and play it!)

Helpful hint: not every measure needs to be different. Many songs use the same rhythm in more than one measure.

I'd like to see and hear your rhythm. Respond by making a video or sound recording of yourself saying the rhythm, and then playing the rhythm ("instrument" is your choice!) Start your video by showing me your written rhythm. Or, you can take a picture of your rhythm and then add sound.

I look forward to seeing and hearing your rhythms! Have fun!

This assignment is also posted in seesaw.
