Australia
We are only spending one day on the continent of Australia. The continent of Australia is unique because it has only one country on the mainland. And guess what that country is called? It is called Australia! So Australia is a country and a continent!
The didgeridoo is a musical instrument invented in Australia. Watch this short video to see and hear a didgeridoo: https://safeyoutube.net/w/oIh4
In the next video, the didgeridoo is used to represent the sounds and motions of animals that you often find in Australia. Most people in Australia speak English, but some groups of people speak tribal languages too. This song is sung mostly in English, but they do say the names of the animals in tribal languages.
Tribal word animal in English origins
Yonga Kangaroo (Nyoongar)
Koo-wark Kookaburra (a kind of bird) (Wathaurong)
Bäru Crocodile (Gupapyngu)
Ngurran Dingo (Kamilaroi)
Here is the video: https://watchkin.com/d901759b66
For today's activity, see if you can make an instrument of your own like a didgeridoo. You'll need something to blow through, like a paper towel tube, or maybe even your hand curled in an O shape. Play a song with your instrument and take a video!
This assignment is also posted in Seesaw.
