Dear CIS Families,
It is hard to believe that tomorrow is the start of June! There were many times in the last two months when it felt as if June would never come, and now, here it is! We have been planning end of year activities so that we can end on the happy, high note that we do when we are able to celebrate in the building together. Most importantly, we want students to have the opportunity to build some memories with their classmates and teachers. While some details continue to be worked out, I will share our tentative plans with you here:
Friday June 5: Unplugged Day- Students have likely been on Chromebooks more in the last two months than the six months leading up to the closure combined! We are encouraging all students to Unplug from all technology next Friday. It is still possible to work your brain without technology. In the days leading up to Friday, we will share ideas with students, some required, others optional, so that they can still have a day of learning planned. Click here to see some Unplugged options.
June 11 2:00 PM: The Substitutes Live in Concert - “The Substitutes” will be putting on a special concert for students in grades PK - 6. Mr. Allen, 6th grade teacher, and CBPS Principal, Mr. Robbin, will be playing live music! Dance, email with comments and enjoy! Come watch at: http://www.cantonschools.org/streaming
June 15 time TBD: Blast from the Past- 5th and 6th grade students will have a Google Meets with their previous grade’s teachers.
June 16 9:30-10:30 AM: CIS Talent Show- within Homerooms or teams, students will meet to show off a talent. More information will be shared with students in the coming week.
June 16 2:00-5:00 PM: 6th Grade Celebration- the pinnacle of the 6th grade year will continue on, parade-style! Thank you to the CIS PTO for their many hours of work to help plan this event.
o Please sign up for a time slot to drive your 6th grader to CIS using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4DABAB2AA4FA7-cissixth
June 18 12:00-3:00 PM: Reverse Parade- It is a long standing tradition on the last day of school for teachers to stand on the bus platform and wave good bye to students. For the reverse parade, teachers will be lining the fence on Dyer and Simonds Avenues- we invite parents to drive CIS students by so that we may wave to them (cars will not be permitted to stop and all CIS staff will be employing safe socially distancing practices).
We hope that through these activities students are able to feel connected to the school community right up to the final days of the year. As always, never hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns,
Mrs. Coiteux
Principal
