Email FAQs

If your child's Chromebook is acting up (missing cursor or volume not working, for example), the solution can often be to turn it off and then turning it back on again after 30 seconds. If that does not fix the problem, please fill out a Tech Support Ticket by clicking above.



What grades have access to student email?

Currently, students in Grades 7-12 have email access.

Who can my child send emails to?

Your child can only send and receive emails to/from other @canastotacsd.org email addresses They cannot send or receive emails from any other domains.

How can my child send an email to his/her teachers?

Your child can email a teacher directly from that teacher's Google Classroom. Once in that Classroom, click "People" on the top. The teacher is listed at the top - click the envelope icon to email the teacher.

Your child can also access the Gmail app by clicking the grey waffle icon once logged into Google. Once in Gmail, your child can click "Compose" on the top left and start typing the teacher's name in the "To" box.

Can I text a message that will go to a teacher's email address?

Yes! In the "To" field in your text messaging, type the teacher's email address with @canastotacsd.org. The teacher will receive the message through his/her email and s/he can reply via email and you will receive it as a text message. See images below for examples.
