The Camp Verde Unified School District Physical Therapy Department is dedicated to supporting students' physical access, mobility, and participation within the educational environment. Physical therapy services are designed to help students develop the functional motor skills necessary to safely and effectively engage in classroom activities, school routines, extracurricular opportunities, and other educational experiences.
The Physical Therapy Department is comprised of one Physical Therapist (PT) and one Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) who work collaboratively with students, families, educators, administrators, and related service providers throughout the district. Together, they provide specialized services and supports that enable students with physical and motor challenges to access their educational programs and participate as independently as possible in school activities.
Physical therapy is provided as a related service when a student's disability affects their ability to access, navigate, or participate in the educational environment. Services focus on educationally relevant needs and may address areas such as gross motor development, strength, balance, coordination, posture, mobility, endurance, functional movement, positioning, transfers, and safe access to school facilities and activities. The department also assists with adaptive equipment, mobility devices, and environmental modifications that support student participation and independence.
The Physical Therapy Department conducts evaluations as part of the multidisciplinary assessment process to determine how a student's physical abilities impact educational access and participation. Evaluation information is used to identify strengths and needs, develop recommendations, and assist teams in determining whether physical therapy services are necessary to support the student's educational program.
Physical therapy services may be delivered through direct intervention, consultation with school staff, collaborative support within educational settings, equipment recommendations, and training for school personnel. The Physical Therapist and Physical Therapy Assistant work closely with educational teams to ensure that supports and strategies are integrated into the student's daily school routine and educational environment.
The Camp Verde Unified School District Physical Therapy Department is committed to providing evidence-based, student-centered services that promote safety, mobility, independence, and meaningful participation in school. Through collaboration and individualized support, the department helps students overcome physical barriers and access the opportunities necessary for educational success and lifelong growth.
