Quality: Together we create a quality school climate that fosters a culture of encouragement and celebrates student success at all levels. The environment is focused on the needs and aspirations of the whole child – enabling a climate of mutual respect, inspired learning, and the development of character and life skills.

  • Increase social emotional learning opportunities for students, staff, and families.
  • Increase programming and support at key transition times in our system - into kindergarten, elementary to middle school, middle to high school, high school to life.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Camas School District is to provide students with the ability to communicate effectively, use technology, reason, be self-confident, possess mental and physical health and work effectively with others. In broader terms, our mission is to create a learning community where students, staff and citizens are involved jointly in the advancement of knowledge and personal growth.

Vision Statement: We will develop a birth to beyond high school educational system that responds to our ever changing and diverse world by empowering students and community through learning. Our students will graduate prepared for life’s challenges - lifelong learners who are independent and motivated, compassionate, ethical, and contributing members of society.

District Goals

  1. The CSD will achieve high academic standards through support for student learning that results in continuous improvement and academic success for all students.
  2. The CSD will support safe, inclusive and positive learning environments that encourage respect, collaboration and support equity, and hold high academic and behavior expectations for all.
  3. CSD will support high levels of collaboration, communication and decision-making processes and actions that maintain public trust, promote awareness and provide opportunities for community and parent involvement.
  4. CSD will create professional growth opportunities for staff connected to strategic planning.

Highlights

  • Shifted focus from all to each student in an effort to develop and sustain a just educational system.
  • Successful 2016 bond campaign, including three new schools Lacamas Lake Elementary, Odyssey Middle School, and Discovery High School.
  • Implemented the following programs:
    • Elementary - coding and robotics programs
    • Secondary - Developed and continue to evolve new kinds of programming including: Integrated Arts & Academics, CAM Tech, Spanish at middle schools, project-based learning at Odyssey Middle School and Discovery High School (estimated 600 students enrolled for 2020-21) to provide choice and flexibility into our secondary service model.
  • Established Making Connections programming for key transition times in our system utilizing a Camas Education Foundation grant.
  • Established peer mentoring at all secondary schools.
  • Established parent workshops focused on topics generated through community feedback.
  • Changed start times to reflect research about adolescent sleep.
  • Implemented a district wide homework policy.
  • Establish Lacamas Heights Early Learning Center expanding preschool opportunities for our community.
  • Utilized district scorecard to help progress monitor school and district theories of action.
  • Develop PBL Advisory Council and program scope and sequence.
  • Establish communication committee with higher ed and high tech council.
  • Updated Long Range Plan
  • Continue to use and develop opportunities for students, staff, and community to share their feedback and engage in our district
  • Developed a school based Equity Team model to capture student, staff and family feedback and voice in the school and develop action steps to address gaps and concerns.
  • Established the Family Community Resource Center at Jack, Will, and Rob Club
  • Established the Budget Committee process.
  • Work towards Garver Theatre completion and other final projects of the 2016 bond.
  • Acquired necessary property for next growth/bond cycle.
  • Continued to expand and diversify Camas Community Education programming based on community feedback and need.
  • Expanded focus and services for social emotional learning and well-being of students and families.
