Local and Iowa Scholarships
IMPORTANT: Some scholarships require a "Camanche Student Profile." It can be found HERE. Also, if a scholarship requires an unofficial transcript, a Camanche student can get that from JMC themselves. If they need an official transcript, that can be obtained from Ms. KaCee Weber.

ICAN Senior Alert - Let the Coundtown Begin
It's January which means the countdown to graduation and the start of life after high school has truly begun. While you may be getting closer on some of your big decisions, there are a lot steps between here and the finish line. Let’s go over a quick list of to-do’s for the next few months.
Applications
1) Have you applied for admission?
You should submit an admission application to any school you are considering for next Fall. You won't know what they offer in financial aid, or learn the details of your options until you let the college know you are serious by applying. Appyling doesn't committ you, it just says you want to learn more about your options for next year and opens the door for serious conversation with the admission office. Applying now gets your ducks in a row so when the time comes to make a decisions, everything is ready to go.2) Have you filed your FAFSA yet?
The FAFSA is now available and is the first step in securing financial aid. No matter what your plans are for next year, or if you really don't know what to do next year yet, filing the FAFSA now sets the stage for you to be able to make decisions when you are ready.
Getting the FAFSA in early means you could qualify for more financial aid. If you wait until the last minute, or until you decide where you are going to go, some financial aid could already be gone, awarded to students who filed their FAFSA early.
The FAFSA opens the door to scholarships and grants from federal and state sources, as well as college and private funds. File today.
These two questions are at the top of the list because without these two steps you don’t have much else to do. Get those applications in to any school you are considering. And if you need help with the FAFSA, check out a FAFSA Ready Iowa event or schedule a virtual or in-person appointment with an ICAN advisor. There are also FAFSA Step-by-Step virtual events you can attend.
Scholarships
Now is prime time for scholarship applications. Check out the following sources and spend a few hours each week working through your list. All the hard work will be worth it when you get free money for college!
Prospective Colleges – apply to any and all scholarships to every school you are considering
Local – Check with your school counselor, your local bank or community organizations, church and family employers. Apply to every single one.
ICAN Scholarship Database – check out our list of online options. They are all verified and safe to pursue.
Housing
Now is the time to start completing housing applications at ALL the schools you are considering. You want to have a spot reserved at each school so you are guaranteed a spot when you make your final decision. Most schools will refund the housing deposit if you decide not to attend. Better to have a place reserved then to pick a school and be left without a room.
Grades
Your final semester counts just as much as every other semester you’ve taken. Don’t let senioritis derail your success. Stay focused this semester.
Enjoy Your Time
With all that said, this is your final semester of high school. Be sure to enjoy it. Make memories with your friends, take advantage of acitivites, engage in your community, and spend time with your family. In a few short months this will all be over and you don’t want to regret not taking advantage of your everyday life while you could.
