The Cadott High School ACP Guidebook is your main resource for all things course planning, with everything you need in one place. The guidebook includes course descriptions, graduation requirements, and sample 4-year plans. Be sure to review the guidebook carefully as you plan.
ACP (Academic and Career Planning) appointments with Mrs. Eyerly-Normand are available for both students and families who would like extra support in planning for the future. During these meetings, we can talk about course selection, graduation requirements, career exploration, college or military options, financial aid, scholarships, and post-secondary planning. Whether you have specific questions or just want help getting started, these appointments are a great opportunity to build a clear plan and feel confident about next steps.
Each spring, students begin the scheduling process for the upcoming school year. This is an important opportunity for students to plan ahead and make thoughtful decisions about their courses. Students start by reviewing the Cadott High School ACP Guidebook, which includes course descriptions, graduation requirements, and sample 4-year plans. They are also encouraged to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Eyerly-Normand to discuss their interests, goals, and create a personalized plan. After planning, students complete a course request sheet, review their selections with a parent or guardian, and obtain a signature. Students then enter their course requests into Skyward.
It is important to note that students are expected to remain in the courses they request. These selections are used to build the master schedule, determine class offerings, and make staffing decisions. Changes are only made when there is a significant need, such as a major change in a student’s academic or career plans. Mrs. Eyerly-Normand is available for a short period before the school year begins to address schedule concerns when necessary.
Schedule changes may be considered for the following reasons:
Academic misplacement: The student is placed in a course that does not match their academic readiness or is missing a required prerequisite.
Program change: The student has made a meaningful update to their Academic and Career Plan.
Missing an academic course: A required core class (English, math, science, or social studies) is not included in the schedule.
Missing a graduation requirement: The student needs a specific course to stay on track for graduation.
Balancing class sizes to support effective learning environments.
Schedule changes are generally not made for reasons such as:
Preference for a different teacher
Perceived difficulty of a course
Workload concerns
Requests to be in classes with friends
If a concern arises during the school year regarding a conflict with teaching staff, we encourage students and families to first communicate directly with the teacher to work toward a solution. If additional support is needed, an administrator can help facilitate next steps. Any approved schedule changes will depend on space availability and will be made with careful consideration of the student’s overall schedule.
Thank you for supporting your student in making thoughtful and informed course decisions.
