Seaview Integrated Primary School

Seaview Integrated Primary school in Glenarm made history in September 2021 when it became the first ever Catholic Maintained school to Transform to become Controlled Integrated.  The leadership within the school had conversations about Integration over many years before that but in June 2019 the governors formally put the question to parents and in the ensuing ballot over 95% voted for Integrated status.

In the last four years since the school embarked on its journey of Transformation, enrolments have risen by over 30% and Seaview has gone from having a significant majority of pupils from a Catholic background to achieving a community balance of 30% Protestant 45% Catholic and 25% Other in 2022/23.

In the video below, recorded in December 2022, Integrated Education Coordinator Ashleigh Moran describes how the process of Transformation made it necessary for Seaview to revisit its vision and values and how this was done in a way that ensured meaningful engagement from parents, staff,  governors and pupils.
